Political Play of the Week - Jack on mark with his comments on low flying Erin!!!

Erin Selby has proven on Day 1 of the Election Campaign in Manitoba that she is ill equipped and not a serious contender for office. She should go back to reading script and playing "happy smiley" and leave the art of politics to other more serious candidates- of both genders. Her outrage for comments made by Jack Reimer, a man of integrity and honour and whom if you knew even an iota of what he does and represents would respect for not only his approach but also his commitment to the good people of Niakwa/Southdale. The very public offense which Ms. Selby chose to share is a sign that the NDP will stop at nothing to "make issues out of nothing" and take the low road. Pointedly, the "talk-a-lot-do-nothing" NDP were set to ask for a public apology from the PC's for Jack Reimer's comments that Erin Selby, a former TV Host on the lowest rated TV station in Manitoba and in fact a women, was nothing more than wall paper at a recent announcement by the "Tax and Spend" NDP leader Gary Doer from Southdale. Jack Reimer the PC representative of the past two decades was on mark as the NDP are trying to make something out in the riding that do not have a hope in winning. I mean affluent young families want good quality honest representation not tokenism. They have received good quality representation under Reimer and Liberal Herold Dreidger before him. Say what you want about Jack but he has done his work, made everything in the constituency a priority had Perogy Wednesday every week of his tenure and made a point to stay in touch. An example of his commitment came to me in 1992. At the time I lived in the riding and was the Provincial Liberal Riding Association President for 5 years in the 90's. I found it hard not to like the man but above all I respected his commitment. Upon my graduation from U of M and my acceptance at Law School he sent me letters of congratulations. I phoned and thanked him as I thought it was a nice touch. Ms. Selby attempt to accuse the man of making a poor gender related comment which was i fact the truth she did not do anything other than provide a smiling happy face for Doer. Ms. Selby is just plain wrong and brings politician into a very low morale ground with her shameful comments. Shame on you NDP and shame on you Erin Selby and I hope the voters of Southdale see through your thinly vieled facade.

"tax and spend ndp leader gary doer"??? seen as the ndp has lowered provincial taxes more than any other gov't...how do they qualify as "tax and spend"ers??? i guess the ole adage, never let the facts or logic get in the way of a ridiculous statement would apply here.

tax and spend then duck and weave when it comes to accounting for the spending. MB hydro's budget is brought into the provinces totals..you know the ole ndp game?facts..here is two courtesy of the chamber
1) more 18-25 Manitobans live in Calgary then Winnipeg
2) more small businesses inn Manitoba less than 10 employees ) have closed in the past 4 years then in the previous 15.
we need change ..we need a vibrant economy and DOER is done!!!

Let's see how well Selby will do without Doer at her side and without a teleprompter in front of her.

as a Southdale Voter how do you feel? Do you think she really has been that niave to politics? is she really that arrogant and removed that she does not see herself as a token candidate?
I like your opinion on how she wil do without the teleprompter..the Jury is out

What the hell does she know about politics anyway? What can she possibly offer the residents of Southdale? If her platform of "Vote for me-I'm a mom" isn't a gimmick/prop, what is?

Wrong wrong
Didn't your heart strings play when Belinda came aboard on the tory and the liberal ships..(jumping ships - a game that canadians do not like)

Belinda was very green.. In fact, talking was awkward for her. Belinda was welcome by you and many others.

Do you know anything else about Erin Selby besides this one eposide or do you just slam opponnets that threaten your choice.

Jack himself admitted that it was the media that picked up on it and blew this comment out of portion; hence leaving Erin to react. Both parties handle the situation correctly; no damage was done to either party.

Erin did receive more publicity out of the deal - but the Tories must feel threaten by her or comments like this wouldn't appear or receive this reaction. Election Day will reveal

Again you are misguided and dishonest on your comments. I signed the petition to not allow Belinda Stronach to sit as a Liberal until a By-Election was called so - no I did not welecome her with open arms. But to analogize belinda with erin is wrong and does not do Ms. Selby any justice. Erin Selby may well have been a good talking head for the lowest ranked tv station in the province but a politician she is not. She wanted to make the "backdrop" statement an issue, whether given advice to do so by "Dipper Self Righteous Mentors" or of her own volition, she was prepared to make a stink about natural political comments that Doer is using her as a back drop. She has not providied anything of substance to political debate or policy. Politicians of the female gender, persons of integrity and substance like for example Hon. Sharon Carstairs and Martha Hall-Findlay stand by their opinions, give their viewpoints honestly and openly and are unfailing in their protection of rights and liberties for which they believe. These positions take strength of character and not back drops with hype and hyperbole. And to answer your question on my choices for public office I stand by people of character, substance and integrity and not hollow self serving egotisticals. People that want to help better our community and our way of life and not line their own pockets.
